Medhā is an aspect of Sarasvati, or the divinized power of holding wisdom and being able to recall without fatigue. Often sung with the Hamsa Gāyatrī, invoking the adhiyatmika experience of knowing our soul’s purity, this sūktam is also sometimes used as a triad of sūktams said to hold the whole of yoga practice: śraddhā, leads to Agni, results in Medhā (like Yoga Sūtra 1.20: श्रद्धावीर्यस्मृतिसमाधिप्रज्ञापूर्वक इतरेषाम् ॥२०॥
