The central metaphor of heat, fire, will power and alchemy are sung out here in the first in importance mantras of the Rig Veda. Agni is divinized as we turn our capacity to agency, will power, and engagement. This is not mere ‘will power’ or self assertion, which can so easily become arrogance and the delusion of self-importance; rather, this is a culling up of everything good in us and a rendering of everything we see as flawed to become offerings to a better life. The human mind body is astonishing; it’s best use is devotion.
